I’m a DIY designer-maker who loves great design, and loves making things with my own hands.

Fitting furniture and home improvement projects around other commitments like a full-time job, family, friends and hobbies is full on, but nothing makes me more proud than seeing something I’ve created being used and loved.

I’ve always done little DIY projects, so I had a little experience when I took the leap and built my first project in 2022. But I haven’t built a piece of furniture that didn’t come in a box with instructions for almost 20 years - so I have a lot to learn!

Over the course of my projects, I’ve been hugely inspired and encouraged to try new things by the maker community on YouTube. People like Laura Kampf, Get Hands Dirty, Michael Alm, and so many others, are so generous with their ideas and skills and have helped so many of us into getting started for ourselves. So I decided to join them, and have been documenting my own learning and experiences in starting out as a designer-maker.

I hope that it might help encourage someone to start their own journey into making.
